Hello all I have a 8973 that we have been running the last 5 years with no problems. I am installing a crank trigger and need to know the wiring instructions using a MSD cross over switch as well, also does the mag and crank trigger have to be set at 25* timing? Is there anything else I should know or do because I heard some horror stories about this,it is a Bae 526 with mag 44

    Thanks Tony Presto

we use the LEAHY trigger never had a need for the crossover switch, start it on the mag and set the timing on it first, then hook up the crank trigger and set it the same, never had any problems doing it this way we do run the trigger about .050 gap not the .100 - .125 they tell you to, just make sure it never touches the wheel. the closer gap will help it start. cranking speed is important with a 44 , the faster the better

Yes, set them both at 25 degrees and the rotor phasing will be right on. It is smart to use a crossover switch. Crank triggers fail and nothing worse than pulling up for the finals and have a crank trigger fail and not have a cross over switch. The cross over switch also makes it simple to check rotor phasing.

I left the mag where it was and still said 25* just had to adjust the trigger a hair and all was good,if I think it is having problems on the trigger, can I switch to mag and make the run, I assume the 8973 will take timing out on both

Yes, you can run on the mag instead of the trigger. The trigger only offers more stability on the ignition timing. That is why a lot of cars use the crossover switch
