Any opinions on running a blown alcohol car AFTER say 6-8 jet cars have made a pass? The jet guys say the new j60s are very clean and just heatup the track, actually helping the traction. They also claim they never put down any film, but admit to being so cheap and only run diesel instead of jet fuel or even kerosene. The show is tight on time and the jets say they need 1 1/2 hrs to cool down between rounds. What say you guys.:D

They may be clean when all is well but .... I wouldn't be the first to run after them.

Years ago when I bracket raced I ran a low 10second tubed gremlin .
This was a car that rode the wheelie bars and went straight and consistent .
Long story short , I almost put it in a guardrail after they ran jet cars

    Guys/ Gals,
You know that WHITE SMOKE/ FUMES that comes from the back of the jet when they do the start line deal , that is UNBURNT DIESEL, it may not end up on the track IF the particular car has a good tune up AND THE AFTERBURNER WORKS.

BUT regardless ,ALL of that @$%^ ends up in the water/burnout area and then it is carried down the track by every sucker that follows them.

Safe I do not think so.

    Take care
    Doug

Back in the early 1990's I raced a couple jet cars in my TA/FC. To me that was the best option...against them, not after them.

They made Alky run behind them at the Joliet points meet this year, one down each lane.. There was a pretty big to-do among the racers about having to do it, but it was what it was at that point.

They did drag afterwards, but these cars were pretty clean burners.. There was nothing wrong with that race track. Just like fuel cars, you don't want to run behind a leaker car..

Granted this was around 9 or 10 pm and it was getting cold out.. I don't know that I'd want to do it if the track was 130 before they ran, but believe it or not, jet cars actually do a good job of blowing all the dust, rocks, dzuses, bolts, whatever off the track.

Say what you will about running after jet cars, but the track was good enough for a 5.54 in Funny Car and Booher's Converter to run a 32 @ 271..

Maybe I need to contact Columbus and see if they wanna share the cost of having some jets run before us.

I ran behind 3 pairs years back...... Launched good then the motor bounced off the rev limiter before I could shift into second and then proceeded to go sideways very quickly. I would never run after one again! Tell the track operators to pull their head out of their ass's. We made the same mistake one time when we decided to test at our local track when the deisel drags were on. Black soot all over the track when I checked it out.

I should amend my statement.. Jet Dragsters and Funny Cars as of late haven't been too bad.. Now the trucks, I'd probably be screaming about..
