I'm going be running my Blown Top Dragster in the near future, and i'm going to put a mechanical throttle stop on it. I've always been against them, but after finally using one on a Blown BAE Top Dragster I like the consistency of it.

So how have you set one up for the first time? I was going to put a zip tie on the throttle cable body that slides inside and do a seat of the pans burn out. Then I could see how much throttle I gave it by the position of the zip location, and start a little less than that.

    Thanks,

No zip ties. Use a small piece of aluminum c channel so it fits around the sliding part of the cable and use a small clevis pin like for an rc car or your receiver of your truck . But the throttle cable has to be a pull cable not a push style.

The zip tie is to find the throttle position during the "trial burnout". Once I know how much the throttle plates opened, ill build the "c" channel.....

Trying to get some help on other ways of establishing a "start point" for throttle opening...

I think I know where you are going with this. I am going to have the same problem. How much butterfly opening do you need to do a good burnout? Don't want to cut too much off the limiter(c-channel) because then you have to get another one. How to find the sweet spot fairly quickly.

I'm interested in ways to set one up also.

If using Enderle K style BV, look through the main feed. Roll over linkage till the moon opens and you are not bypassing fuel. Blades will end up about 3/8 inch.

So, I'm thinking take a 0.375 drill bit and
stick under the blades and make a channel to fit?
and are you talking about a screw or roots?
    or it don't matter?

Roots blower. we use a piece of aluminum tube with washer underneath which stops on cable. We use a quick release sold by Goodvibrations. It sets above tube and under a nut on the cable. Super easy, get the tube close and adjust the nut above to make it exact.

    To answer a few questions:

Its a screw blower on a 388" small block with a powerglide.....

I was amazed at how little the BAE engine required, and I was amazed at how high the rpm went when you first stepped on it. But once the burnout started it came back down.

I was also told to and did control the burnout rpm a little by dragging the carbon brakes during the burnout.

Thanks guys...some of the points made are good.
