Hard to know everything about your tune up, but if you are running a 44 amp mag with the BAE 4 fat heads, I would run it at 24 degrees.

You're right if he's running a fuel head. That's a big chambered head and will need quite a bit more than the alcohol fat heads.

27 degrees with that type of compression and a 44 mag.

    Top Fuel Big Chamber Head/Timing

We ran the 175cc top fuel style head for 6 years at 32 to 34 degrees with no problems ever with a very fat tune-up (alcohol) and 46#s of boost at 3.80s (1/8 mile) with a 44 amp MSD mag. More timing was faster, but bolts would loosen some and we stayed at 34 max and never any problems. Now with the small chamber fatheads, we are at 26 degrees and working our way up-BE SURE and double check your TDC and timing marks on the degree wheel, as many have made mistakes here.-THANKS! If you need it to last 1320', start at 27 and watch the bearings. If the bearings aren't moving and oil isn't puking everywhere, try another degree. Pro Mag 44 is not very forgiving. It depends more on the cam, static compression and what kind of dynamic compression the cam/valvetrain build than anything else, and how hot the chamber is allowed to get between cycles.

    little beginner help

Well I'm thinking 32 degrees to start with a fat tune up.
    18 degrees on plugs.
What do you guys think about a timing and spark plug gap on my 12 amp mag tune up.
    Great input guys thanks.

    need advice

Well maybe 32 is too much. Maybe 27degrees is a better place to start.
