“Public Announcement” PSI Superchargers, Alive and Well

PSI Superchargers would like to announce that they have completed a restructuring process and are continuing in the supercharger business.
PSI, also having deep roots in the Aerospace industry took a hard hit in 2010 when the company lost a long term Aerospace contact that had been in existence for many years. “The entire Aerospace project was transplanted from the United States to the Czech Republic, and we have been struggling ever since to fill the shop capacity left from the departure of the contract”. “The company did not go out of business or bankrupt, however some of the ownership has changed and we are now positioned to move forward with business once again”, said Andy Severyn, one of the company’s owners.
Roger Olander and several other “key” long time employees have remained with the company and Norm Drazy, (the company’s founder) is involved as a consultant and R&D engineer.
PSI Superchargers would like to thank all of our loyal customers for their past support and for their patronage in the future. The restructured company’s goal is to focus on our customers, both new and from the past, the racers, race team owners and crew chiefs that have depended on PSI to offer “second-to-none” products since 1988. PSI superchargers can be contacted @ (480) 820-6511 M-F between 9:00 AM- 5:00 PM, MST.

I have had the pleasure in speaking with Andy and from the conversation that we had, I can tell he is a class act. I am confident that things will continue at PSI in a positive direction and that everything and everyone will be pleased with there service's once again.

Good Luck to PSI in the new year.

I feel your pain. Sometimes it seems like the only people who win in drag racing are the people in business. A few months back I bought a block. The price was 8000 dollars.... and 50 cents. I sent a check for 8000 dollars and 3 weeks later got a bill for the 50 cents. The only thing you can hope for is honestly and integrity. That's what I recently found when dealing with PSI. Andy was straight up and fair. He did the work that he promised, when he promised it at the price he quoted. When I had some tech questions, I was put through to Rodger who took a lot of time to answer every one of my questions. Even the dumb ones. All of this was 180 degrees from what I heard last season, but my Mom always told me "believe half of what you see and none of what you hear"

I echo the same experience. They were slow on the delivery schedule but considering what they have gone through it was OK. I got my blower and the tech help is great. Their blowers are a great product and it was worth the wait. Do not always believe everything you hear. I used to be a Goodyear Tire Dealer. Back then their stats were satisfied customers told other customers their experience less than 2 other people. Dissatisfied customer told over 9 people.

I believe you. My post was not intended to discredit what you said, but what I had heard at the track this past season about PSI. It was also in response to PSI's initial post that started this thread, that I found from my personal experience to be true.

psi's wrong doings. ALL IS NOT FORGIVEN

this story starts about 3 years ago, bought an alc car and all the components from a good friend of mine. Luckly i have a good friend that builds fuel systems for a living and had previously built the fuel system on this car, so he continued to work with us. i ran this car with a psi screw blower for about a year with zero issues now comes time to recertify sent the blower back to psi had herd of all the horrer stories so i told them up front to only re-certify it so i get a phone call from michelle she told me the bottom of the blower case needed to be flycut and of course totaly rebuilt. they said that they would not return it unless i had had the work done. So now that im being held hostage i have no choice to do the work, prior to the work the blower made 58 lbs of boost on a 451 moter so i get the blower back and i immediatly notice that its way to tight. after 6 phone calls later of telling psi that theres a problem with the blower rodger calls me, and i tell him the same thing the blowers to tight he tells me to shut my f'in mouth and do exactly what he explains for me to do. The blower lasts about 11 sec. i put more prizm in it than was needed and lots of fuel for the break-in. Needless to say it destroyed a set of pistons and sleeves on a brand new moter. so i then sent the blower back to psi after alot of nasty language they cant figure out wat did the damage to it and never blamed it on me but of course i know wat did it because i do know how to measure the blower. the blower was not cut flat and was obviously to tight in the first place. When a blower has these problems it instantly gets severly hot so the solution was for me to buy a new case as mine is now ruint. wat i didnt know at the time was that the roters are affected by heat which caused the roters to de laminate and they didnt tell me this at the time. they said that they were fine. they told me they would pay for half when the blower got done i had to pay for all of it but it did seem to be a pretty good blower. i put about 40 passes on it in the last couple of years but now its time to re cert sent the blower again. last sping i told them do not do anything but re cert the blower. so they call me up and say the roters are delaminating, they told me it needed 1 new male roter, $3800 but they dont have any roters. they tell me that delamination is caused from extream heat and i go huh imagine that. I explain to them when the heat occured of course they magicaly forgot about the problems they caused the last time which thats when the rotors got damaged. so since they dont have any roters they say its not really that bad they can fix it up for around $1200 plus re cert i get the blower back and the bill is $3800 the same price they wanted for a new roter imagine that they put a coating on the roters witch wiped right off the first time we started it up to break it in. soon after break-in there was no coating left. we broke in the blower everything seemed to be ok but we did'nt pull the hat to look at the rotors. after all the troubles we have had with psi we should have. We leave to denver a couple days later. we started up the motor 2 times in the pits and go to set the valves turning the moter over with a ratchet and noticed it was tight then loose. so we pull the hat off and u cant believe how scewed up the blower was. we know that we put more fuel in our hat than any other team out there just to make sure that we never have to much heat on the rotors. most teams thought we were crazy for putting that much fuel in the hat. i then called and left a message for roger as soon as we found the problem. 7 months later no returned phone calls thats because roger knew exactly what had happened. he probably said oh shit that didnt work. all this being said i believe if they have a qualified person putting that blower together your gonna have a great product. i do belive at a bear minimum psi owes me to fix my blower at theyre cost. im sure by me writting this, this will do nothing but cause me problems with psi so i figure i will have to have someone else order any parts i may need and i wont send them another blower in my name. i believe they are very vendictive people especially if u tell anyone the truth about wat happened to u. luckily a friend sold me a nice blower that was freshly certed. i would have known that dealing with psi was this underhanded i would have went with an a/fuel car. keep in mind that im sugar coating everything that i have said cause it is way worse than i have described. i own a business and i know all about employees and if i put a bad product out the door or in my case a roof you can guarintee that i am going to fix it right. you can do a hundred good jobs and noone will ever praise you. do one shitty job and the whole industry will know it. i hope the new owner realizes this because they will not stay in business much longer treating people like this. so i hope psi reads this message since they do not return my phone calls, and takes care of theyre shitty work. you know that you are guilty of it and that is why you have never returned my phone calls. curtiss chambless in case you want to call?? 620-874-5109 Chambless Family Racing TAD

I would like to know if PSI ever attempted to work out a solution to your problems with this blower.

    PSI Needs Competition

eli, Curtiss Chambliss is a stand up guy, and I would believe him any day over PSI. PSI has screwed over more people in the alcohol class and would not even be in business if NHRA would get there head out of there ass and let someone else build blowers to compete against them. I have helped on several teams and everything Curtiss says is true. PSI blames all the blower problems on the customer and doesn't give a shit what you think because they are the only show in town and know you are at there merrcy. And yes most people do not want to say anything to upset them for just that reason. I have talked to the people at NHRA and they said at its worst they didn't know anything about the problem. "I BELIEVE ONE OF TWO THINGS". Either politics is involved with PSI sleeping with NHRA or NHRA is to lazy and does not want to deal with another blower out there as back in the whipple days. Hammer on me all you want, but PSI knows all the shit they pulled on there customers is true!!!!!!! My two cents worth. Richard Putz "Retired" Top Alcohol Dragster Racer Richard Putz

    Sweetheart Deal

    Come on NHRA....really?

It's a mandated blower and you can't buy one? As I understand it, you can put 50% down and get your new blower "someday".

There has to be a better approach......

How about we all switch to a roots blower, ask for a 150.00 lb weight break, at least we will still be raceing, and think about all the guy's/comp. that build blowers, you wont have a problum buying them, So what, you buy 2 or 3 blowers and restrip then at the shop,i'm sure you can get 7/8 runs on each blower, make it a rule you can only run 2 blowers per event, tag em so you can't cheat. What do you guys think? ;)

The roots is probably the best now that it has ever been, but would be a huge step backwards in the performance department. Even if you have two roots blowers there is no guarantee that you will see the same performance from each without a blower dyno. Those that have one would have the competitive edge because they would have: 1) two blowers the same output or 2) a complete fuel system for each blower. Either way you look at it you are back to cubic dollars and it is cutting out us small guys who can run good but are barely scraping by as it is. We can barely keep up with the a/fuel cars with the screw and I highly doubt that a 150lb weight break is going to make up that difference. In addition it is hard enough now to get down to minimum weight. I personally would like to see NHRA allow turbos again, at least in dragster. They don't have to allow EFI and all of that mess, just the turbos. In reality if someone was to tool up and make a prototype of a new blower, there is no guarantee that it will pass the SFI testing or be accepted as a product acceptable for competition. I mean come on, out of all the active alcohol cars, how many are actually blown and how many new blowers will each racer buy a year? Now if there was another market (boats, mug bogs, tractor pullers, etc) interested in an alternative screw blower, whether it be displacement, size, etc, it might be a little less of a risk for a manufacture to prototyping and move forward with a design. On a side note, if the sanctioning body is saying that they are not aware of any issues, maybe racers who have had problems should write a letter in detail explaining the issues they have had or are having. Thanks for listening.

Don't forget Dale Brand ran 5.60 or maybe a 5.62 5 years or so ago with a roots in IHRA . The billet case roots extend the life of the strips also which is a plus . I would not be surprised to see another mfg. of screw blowers in the near future .
