I've been running Lucas 50 plus oil so far this season, and oil pressure is still fine. But as hot as it's getting is there a reason to switch to 70wt? Or if the bearings are clearanced and working with 50wt should I just let it ride? My oil currently goes from honey colored to dark pretty quickly, but I'm not milking it bad and I'm not collecting much in the puke tank, so it's feeling pretty good at the moment. But the oil feels thinner to me after a couple passes.

Engine is 540bbc with Littlefield 14-71 Hi-helix blower at 20% over at the moment. We shift at 8000 rpm so relatively speaking I don't think we're hammering on it too hard.

    I appreciate anyone's thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Matt

I would run 60, but not 70. 70 is a little too thick for most motors, I would be your rod bearings would look like crap, I have been through that before with my alcohol motor.

I run 70w all the time with no issues!
I only switch to 50w if it gets below 60*
