my new motor has AJ Olds heads with two plug holes per cylinder, want to block off one but cant find any one that makes something for this,AJ only makes one for hemis and it has a 13/16 hex which wont work,I was thinking of just knocking the guts out of a plug and either threading it and blocking it or welding it shut any ideas

This may sound stupid, but why don`t you just use an old spark plug? The little bit of compression loss in the void of the plug I`m sure you won`t notice. Just my 3 cents [inflation you know!!!] Tom.

Did you call out to AJ and talk to them? Its been my experience if you call out there and tell them what you have, they can be pretty helpful.

i called Rick at AJ, and all he said was that all their stuff was 13/16 hex which wont work and as far as using a complete plug i would worry about it rattling of pieces into the cyl but really i gues it might be okay doing that

    Plugs.

    Get something made up.
I don't recommend using an old spark plug.
I have been having issues with the guts falling out of them while using them.
After about 10 runs on them.
Have to pull motor down to clean out the grit.
Can't be hard to make something up.

    plug plugs

http://www.rbssuperchargers.com/Products.cfm?pn=340-0024&pID=6878 not sure what wrench size these are, but thought I would put them out there for ya. dan and heres some tapered gaskets that might help http://www.jegs.com/p/B-B/B-B-Spark-Plug-Index-Washers/962924/10002/-1 didn't know if they were flat gasket or tapered plugs your talking about, but might be able to machine the plugs for a taper end if that's what you need. if the only problem is the hex size, gring them off and weld the head of a 12 point grade 8 onto it, problem solved.

How about welding an old set of spark plugs shut?

    Work backwards........

What is the thread size you need, and do you need flat or taper seal? After that, what hex size? Can you cut down the OD of a 13/16 socket to fit your holes?

Any machine shop could fab you what you need, if it turns out you need something custom.

Make sure that your dummy "plug" covers all of the threads and crevices that the old plug would have.

On my AJ KB Olds heads I had to turn down the normal 13/16" socket so it would fit in the spark plug bore. If the socket is the problem that's what you have to. Make sure you carry a couple of machined sockets, they do get thin and will crack. Must us a 6 point socket.
