Having an issue starting my motor thru the grid, motor starts no problem thru the grid when running thru the mag trigger, when i change over to the crank trigger the motor won't start, if i plug the crank trigger into the mag it starts no problem, any help appreciated.

ok here'es the deal....it could be a number of things but the first ones to check are.... is the motor spinning fast enough? Has to be over 250 rpm, if the blower is fresh may be dragging the starter down and will require 24 volts to start. Are all four magnets in the wheel still mag. strong? How close is the pickup to the wheel? And how tight did you tighten the clamp on the trigger...very easy to damage a trigger and short it out by over tighting it. Make sure you have the powergrid set to the correct mag setting, I can;t remember which one but you can call MSD. Tell us more about your current set-up....starter type, voltage, etc.

I agree with all Jody has said. I like to run the air gap around .043 to .045 to make sure it starts

I start the motor from the blower 48 volts, I put a change over switch on and start it on the mag then switch to the crank trigger and motor keeps running, so definitely a cranking speed issue, the one thing I noticed is that there is around 7 degrees of retard through the grid. I set the crank trigger at 27 degrees connected straight to the mag and when I changed it back through the grid and had it running on the crank trigger it showed 20.

I set the timing on the mag thru the grid at 27, I had the crank trigger set at 27 straight to the mag, when the crank trigger was running thru the grid I had to move the crank trigger up 7 degrees, surprised me that it is so much, not that it matters.

Sorry, I meant timing just on mag, bottom wire to top. You need to start here.
