putting a new combo together and wondered what trans gears I should run. im not afraid to change them, and have a few ratios here. I have a blown alchohol 526 miner hemi with 2 combos, a 14-71 hi helix psi for the fast tracks, and a 8-71 std littlefield for the skating rinks we run locally. we run 1st to the finish, so I will be tweaking this new combo. I have a 2 disk crower pedal clutch 10 inch, a 4.30 rear gear, and 3 speed lenco.
car weighs about 2200 lbs total. I have a old racepack to monitor the readings, and previously ran the car with a bbc tractor motor. the rear tire can be either a 36 or 34. ive been told to run the 34 since most blown alkys don't have the juice to turn a 36 inch tire. I can run as a funny car or altered, and is set up for both ways. any more info you need to know, ask. I blew this class last time, and smoked the clutch many times before getting it right, so I know how important this is. whats your thoughts? and no, I am not putting a glide in it, but have considered a b&j converterdrive with a 3 speed.

I think a two disc may be minimal for your app (But I have not raced in along time). At 2200lbs I will guess a 44% 44% (208-144-1.1) would be OK w/ 34" tires

A 2 disk is very difficult to run, you have to hang a lot of weight on it to get it to work, and it will still wear out fast. For gear ratios, typically with a roots blower a 1.89 low or so would work, a 1.34 and a 1.44, or a 1.31 and a 1.44

    We ran a 36 tire on our alky altered, works ok for us, 0.96 60 foots, 4.04 1/8th (only 172mph) and a 6.42 at 191mph 1/4

We have now bought some 34's to try, we also run a 2 plate clutch and it works for us but we have ran a 2 disc for 20+ years

we also weigh about 2200lbs (for the 6.42) now taken 200lbs out of the car.
