Helping a friend re strip a older littlefield 14-71 typical older blower half the screws are stripped that hold the strips.so There are nuts inside the hollow part of rotor. Have to take freeze plugs out to get to them.don't have time to heli coil them. How important are they to put back in.?? I remember not to many years ago the top fuel SSI blowers were hollow no plugs in them

im no expert but to me random nuts inside the rotors can only upset the balance of the rotors and in something that spins that fast its a bad idea,
the plugs need to be there or littlefield wouldn't have installed them, every body puts plugs in the rotors and there not doing it to make work for themselves...
    id put them back

If you put an equal amount of nuts in every lobe of the rotor then it should maintain a pretty good balance. To me the freeze plugs are only important if they are exactly flush to the end of the rotors and the end plates have been modified with that extra stripe to seal the ends. Without that strip on the end I don't really see the purpose of the freeze plugs. They other thing to consider is the type of racing you are doing. If it is an all out go for broke stiff competition with restricted blower overdrive then the plugs and end stripe need to be there because there is a little boost gain from them. If it is unlimited OD then not so much of a problem.

I would replace the plugs.... Probably keep fuel out of the rotor cavity, if allowed to pool in the rotors it would create an imbalance .

Put the plugs in, it helps the flow of the air, without them, the air flow wants to rush into the empty space of the lobes
