Excuse the MBR/Fontana ignorance about to unfold here....

I'd ask the engine builder about this but he's not available due to health issues. 526 Fontana (MBR) Hemi (I believe it's the 8.3 version).

So he warned us to not just start taking off the cover but we never got info as to why or what to do. I've had Chrysler HEMI gear drives (Milodon) before but that's it. We found a piece of what looks like a roller bearing shield in the oil pan and we figure that's the only place something that size could come from.

So is this just a BBC gear drive system under a Fontana Timing cover? Anything special to watch for when removing/installing the cover?

And yes, we're trying to get ready to run this weekend.

Giving MBR a call in the morning also. Would be nice to have an installation manual in my library for our operation (the cam card was all I got from the builder before his health failed).

    TIA

Simmer down and take a deep breath LOL. It 's not that bad just a third gear that drives the cam off of the crank and that. Gea.r also drives the mag. Call bob miner , it really is pretty straight forward once you see it.

If you need help with this motor, I might be able to help. I live about 40 miles from you,and have a MBR in a funny car.

    Found the culprit

Called Bob Minor and from my description said it sounded like the support bearing for the fuel pump shaft.

Right on the button! New bearing in tomorrow and ready for this weekend. Now why did it break the shields (both sides of the bearing!), all I can think of is the pump shaft hitting it.

Still would like to see some sort of installation or diagram on that timing gear set up. :)
