rdc blower starter slipping ?

    I have a rcd blower starter that is starting to slip when it tryies to turn the engine I tried rcd to get clutches and they want to see me a new drive is there any other way to fix it we have already tightened the spanner nut and it still slips ? one other thing does anyone know if it really needs grease int the clutches ? thanks in advance alton

    there is no clutches but yes it needs grease in the planetary assem sounds like a keyway sheared, one gear assembly is welded in them

    mine has a clutch pack in it with about 20 clutches made out of brass

    the only brass clutches ive seen are old fmx ford
    you may find some at an old timer transmission shop
    or tell me diameters and tooth count and ill look i used to have some
    no grease on clutches

    hey duane hows it going ? saw you put up some amazing numbers in tulsa ! my old whipple wont make no power if i turn it what the xdrl will allow and i dont want to spin the guts out of the engine,so we are running some outlaw stuff over here till the throwdown.... hope to see you there.....we cleaned the clutches and made a .015 shim to stack behind the clutch pack to compensate for wear and it works ok for now so i guess well try it thanks for the replies alton
