I am looking into shipping a super charger to Australia, checked with ups, dhl and fed ex, they all seemed expensive. Can anyone give me any other less expensive suggestions?

You might try to find a container going that way. I know some racers and pullers will get quite a few parts/vehicles loaded up in a container before loading it up. Then you would just have to get it to California.

The regular shipping avenues are taking a BOAT(Bend Over And Take it) approach lately going international. $1200 to ship 3 boxes to Sweden that was a total of 130 lbs. with UPS.. over $700 to ship 58 lbs. to Australia.

Lots of times freight forwarding companies offer better deals because they can package with others. Has saved some of my customers 20% or more going through import/export specialty companies. You may also ask if Gary Burgin Enterprises would be willing to get it over there for a service fee, might be cheaper even paying them to do it.

If you are a casual non account with any of those guys you won't get great rates, you also need to ask for thier best super economy rate ;) as the standard service they quote on is express... Any which way you look at it if you get a blower here (I am in Aus) for under a grand airfreight it is probably about right... As one of the other guys mentioned the only other way is to shop around with some freight forwarders they might be able to do a better rate

    shipping blowers

Hi guys, I got one shipped from USA to New Zealand last year, I used Scott at Fastparts fast.parts@xtra.co.nz and it was quite cheap. He does the container thing so it would depend on how quick you needed it done. You might want to send him an email and see if could manage this for you. Cheers Graham

    Freight to Aus/Nz

    Try Bax Global
Think they have merged with DB Schenker nowadays. 14.71 from littlefield to NZ less than $400

Rich, If your customer is into pulling, there is a couple of guys in Australia that do containers. I have sent lots of tires over. I will have to see if I have their numbers still in my files. You might also contact Chad Mayhill. I think he sends tires also and might have a contact. JW

I shipped a complete set of heads to Australia here a few weeks ago. As scary as it sounds USPS is what I use strictly for overseas shipments. It was $398 fully insured with all the customs junk and they arrived in three days. Any of the other shipping companies wanted double what USPS did.

    shipping costs

I live in Denmark and order lots of parts from US.

I have found that UPS is by far the most expensive, DHL a close second, and then Fedx.

By far the cheapest is iparcel, but sadly only summit uses them. It is a deal where you can prepay the import tax and sales tax and the shipping is cheap too. I think they gather stuff up and ships it in bundles but i don't know for sure. Anyways it is cheap and fairly fast. I wish more US vendor would use them.

If iparcel is not available i try to always use USPS as they are also very fair with the prices.

The sad thing is that often when ordering parts you have no say in who is used as a carrier.

Another thing that really makes a huge difference is the package size. If companies could just learn to package the goods smartly instead of just putting everything in a random box thats 3 times the size needed and stuffing it with newpapers or bubblewrap, it would save the end customer loads on shipping.

A funny side note. UPS's saver option is always the most expensive even more so than their expedited or regular rate ... go figure.

    TL.DR.

UPS, DHL, Fedx all suck. Use iparcel if available and if not then use USPS.

If using the USPS, just be sure you insure the package. I was sent some one off lifters for a special motor from Australia and they got lost somewhere in transit. Sender just sent them without insurance or tracking. USPS said they could not do anything about it.
