    Hi guys
I think I am running a bit too much valve spring pressure and killing retainers, rocker tips etc. Are there some experts out there or an actual calculator to work out what I need. Here are my specs-
SBC PSI blower 40psi boost, 9500rpm limit, stainless/inconel vales at 118gm, .730" lift, 2.050" installed height. Currently running PAC1331 with around 450lb on the seat, thinking of dropping to about 350lb on the seat and a lower spring rate about 1000lb on the nose.
    Any advice appreciated thanks, Bluey

    Pressure

Its not the pressure its the weight of the valve at 9500 its a wonder it has not self destructed.

Get titanium valves (Victory)that will solve your problems, you can run less springpressure so it"s easier on your valvetrain.

    Valve springs

450# on the seat really isn't too much spring pressure. I agree with Mike that it's the weight of the valves that is of more concern. I have found that if I let valve springs pressure sag below 450 things start to wear funny and break. As long as I keep my pressures higher than 450-480 (with Titanium valves) things seem to stay together. A lot of the screw blower guys in TAD and TAFC are running seat pressures in excess of 550#-620#. Dave Germain

Guys , please note that he said small block Chevrolet .
I think If you put titanium valves in it 350 lbs on the seat should be fine .

I run 45 lbs @9500 with a sbc steel ext valves 375 on seat its a turbo motor cam was 840 lift never had a lot of issues.lol remember years and years ago i had a roots blown sbc it ran 8900 rpm 40 lbs boost and 250 on the seat was a bad ass spring.

I just sold my billet sbc to some guys from Sweden they run a screw blown sbc close to 60 lbs of boost they are running 550 on the seat !!

Thanks guys appreciate the replies you all confirm what I was thinking. 1 set of Ti intakes and top of the line retainers coming up and probably drop the springs just a little. Cheers
