Been a while since I've been on this site but just wondered what people thought about the parity between the A/fuel and blown cars

In my opinion it's the closest it's ever been and you just have to look at the #s to see why I say that.

Haha. I'll also be curious to see if anyone else answers on this. Personal opinion is that the parity is pretty damn good right now. For the first time in a long stretch a blown car was National Champ. National Event and Regional wins were pretty even between the two types. Whiteley went a 5.17 in Pomona, Reichert went a 5.14 in Charlotte. Problem is can you base the numbers off the performance of two or three people? I think as of last year there were a quite few more A/fuel cars than blown cars capable of dipping in to the mid-low 20's. Could it just be more A/fuel guys just have a better handle on their tune-up than the blower guys? Possibly. But I bet the majority of blower cars AND A/Fuel cars running would disagree with that to some extent. Bottom line, the only guys who will ever be satisfied with parity are those hauling ass and winning races on either side of the argument. lol

Good summary, Justin. I agree that one has to look at the max performance capabilities when measuring parity since the level of each individual team behind them is hard to calculate. i.e. Comparing the top ten AFD teams (2012 performance-wise) versus the top ten BAD teams (2012 performance-wise) might sound like a way to define parity or not, but who's to say the #10 AFD is on the same level as the #10 BAD or vice versa. Overall, 5.14 versus 5.17 tells a nice story for parity during the 2012 season.

Demke and the boys got the Kentucky Thunder car thundering yesterday! Whiteley's backhalf numbers are ridiculous. Will the AFDs dip into the 20's today?

5 pounds per cubic inch, that's a lot of lead to bolt on.
