gas tank

i have a 1 1/4 inlet on fuel pump, had an aluminum tank with a weld in bung. am switching to a clear tank this year. i cant find anything for 1 1/4 outlet for a gas tank. any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. thanks jeremy

Sounds like you are going to have to machine up a bulkhead fitting or a female version and weld it on.

I gotta say, I am curious why you need a clear tank? Is that safe? So you can see how much fuel you have? Why not a couple weld bungs, a couple elbows, and some clear tubing for a site tube?

 

Sounds like you have the wrong fuel pump,...a Gas motor consumption is half the usage of a Methanol/Alky engine, unless you can switch out the inletson the pump theres no need for a huge inlet....

 

is a blown kb olds never said anything about gas or methanol. but yes instead of asking be a smartass. it is methanol. is an enderle 1100 pump. switching to clear tank so can see how much fuel is in tank. thats all. so if anyone has a real answer and leave the smartass at home i will still apppreciate any suggestions.

 

You can get a bulkhead fitting with a 1 1/4 nipple from the likes of Earls,Aeroquip, KB fittings etc.,

alot of us mud drag guys run a clear jaz fuel cell. i dont know if it legal to run in the drag race world as i dont look at your rules. but if jaz sells them im sure they are being used in their somewhere. an instead of doing the tube. he has to move the tank an mod it anyway putting the clear on on will be just as easy an you can see it at a glance instead of having to walk over to it an look.

 

Wow no wonder people are getting fat, can't walk over and look at the tank? lol

 

I had to go look. It's a natural plastic version, no color, not clear. More like semi transparent.

Isn't there a rule that says if you don't top it off each pass, your tank is too big, your vehicle is too heavy and you are not making enough HP.

No it just makes it easy for us to glance up an see.most times we don't have a lot of time between rounds.so a hair bigger tank makes it easier.also we drive ours back most times .an also I don't want to try an pack 2jugs on the 4wheeler when we go into the infield.i take two cars in with me to deal with an we dont have that much time...trust me we do ok on going fast an making hp guys.you all are not the only ones that can do it.lots of other sports that are big hp

 

Was not knocking your chosen race series or efforts. The word "clear" set the whole thing off and for my part was attempting to throw a little humor into the mix.
