Seems like main cap girdles were once popular with BBC guys, anyone out there using them, making them or are some still laying around?

Would they minimize cap walk or weren't they that effective?

I do not know if they "work" but they are still for sale on eBay under "main cap girdle" About $50.00

When the caps get loose in there registers, what is deforming, are the caps actually bending down in the center and therefore pulling the sides in?

    cap walk

I used one on my 572 bowtie block in the twd but could only say it might have helped some ... still moved around .. alota blower for the day also. merlin block was the fix splayed cap studs to stay bbc cast. so i would say not worth the maching time unless you can get it done yourself
