Anyone ever install valve cover spacers on a hemi to keep oil from spilling out when taking the valve covers off between rounds? Just curious if it helps. We run fuel heads, never fails even if you wait the oil is still there waiting to run out everywhere! Tire of cleaning the underside every round.

Josh - I always wondered why there was not a fix for this! I'm a little bit of a clean freak and don't like all of the oil either...
One issue is the need for taller spark plug tubes if you did make a spacer....

We currently glue the valve cover gaskets to the head with "The Right Stuff" sealer and try not to break the seal when setting the valves - use the valve cover gasket as a "dam" to stop the oil from spilling over the edge of the head...

I figure the top fuel fuel teams are so drenched with oil every round it does not matter to them...but for those of us that do not tear the engine completely down each run it's a messy deal...

That is one of the only characteristics of the Big Block Chevy head that I do miss....nice tall wall at the top of the head to retain the oil...

Just my opinion but there shouldn't be too much oil there to begin with by the time you are towed back after the run, unless you drive the car back to the pits ?

roll off about 4 paper towel squares dont tear apart
    fold in half roll up
stuff this between the head and the header flange
this help prevent alot from running down the header
    Its a Hemi they leak!

Dont now how youre heads looks exatly but we had the same problem widh oure old Veney heads, After i cutted out some aluminium under the lower valvecover studs we reduce the oil spill to almost zero.
Look on the left on this picture under the valvecover studs, (I made the cuts a little bigger) http://www.dmpeinc.com/superchargers/media//photo_1_.JPG
