500 to 600 deg at idle, 1050 or less at max. I try to keep my temps to less than 1000 deg.

Idle seem like it's all over the place with different combos. The zone Jody mentions above look good to me. I have seen some pretty far from that to get the response perfect (too tight converter, ignition timing not locked)

    Injected : 1/8 mile 900, 1/4 1000
    Carb : 1/8 1000 1/4 1100

If you get anything above 1300 it's likely rich and burning the excess fuel right in the header tube.

.........OR,..it does not have enough Timing adv, and is retarded too much,..That was the nice thing about having that RPM Egt set up on my stack inj BBC on alky/Nitro if the temp was high the warning indicator came on and Id check timing,.sure enough Not enough timing I ran 36-38 degrees, and the fuel was burning into the pipe at the egt probe...

Idle/staging temps 450-500 max,.... at the tope end, and this depends on what heads you have aluminium or cast iron,.mine were aluminimum and I would see 1175 to 1200
and the plugs looked bitchin,..!!! my HS leanout would come open at about 1100 ft or at 64 psi, or at 7300 rpm with my combo. 1.80 1st gear powerglide w/5100 stall 10" conv 4.10 gears 33x17x16 rear tires, 1900 lbs.

You didn't say if you are using port nozzles or not. Are you? If so take it to around 1000*. With a new set of plugs in the motor make a run, then after the run clean them off with spray brake cleaner and let them dry and read them in the sunlight. Balance the readings by adjusting your port nozzle jets until they all look the same after a run regardless of the EGTs. EGT's are not that accurate and can be affected by the timing. How lean you go is up to you but I would tune the motor until you are about 180* or 50% frosty with all the readings balanced and you will make good safe power. Not much gained by going 360* or 100% frosty unless you are in the finals against Frank Manzo.

Yes and no. The problem with NA alcohol motors is that they normally will not burn the cadmium off in one run unless they are very high horsepower motors.
