I havent pulled it to check yet it acts like fuel is bypassing the spool. engine leans up when shut off but wont die. Has anyone ran into this before ?? the linkage is fine full travel. Thanks Craig

You need to check your poppets to make sure they are closing. Also is your arm clocked correctly on the splined shaft ? If one of your poppets isn't closing it will suck fuel out of the tank .

How did you shut it off ??? I see where you are from, do you know John Keigley ?

I let it go lean for 15 seconds or so & hit the key it was in the shop. It is moving lock to lock. I don't know him. Just know they have a shop in town. Thanks for the info Craig

I agree with Mark. If you have poppets that return fuel to the inlet fuel line of the pump then check and make sure none are staying open.

Good deal---------now to say one stray piece of rubber got stuck in the poppet and it's now a clean system ---- I'd be looking for a bad piece of hose or damaged O ring supplying the debris you found now and in the future -----------

If you look at the alcohol flow path it had to have either come from debris in the tank or the hose to the pump or the hose to the BV or the orings inside the BV or the oring on the end of the idle poppet. Look at the piece of rubber you found with a magnifying glass and see if it is part of a oring. Do you use a screen in the inlet of the BV? If not then I highly recommend one. I check it before every run on Adams car. About once a race I find something in it.

Other than the debris issue it is possible to have a leaking shutoff BUT it's rare.
The last one I had in the shop do this was 30+ years old and had lived it's whole life passed around between tractor pullers and the system appearantly never had the most basic of maintenance 101 at any time.

The housing was worn from the dust slurry running through it and would no longer seal off....in either direction. I am not speaking of a dribble here. It actually was bypassing a significant amount of fuel to the tank while in the open position and vice versa.

If the poppet is leaking, how does one fix it? Can you lap it somehow? Its likely the idle check as it has very little spring psi holding it closed/sealed.

I was thinking the poppet would be leaking if it had a piece of rubber or white chalky substance that comes with poor alky fuel system maint.--- I personally would spend the money and buy a new poppet if it leaked while clean so to speak---- I don't think lapping helps-------------
