What is best way to plum a remote fuel primer system for trouble free operation.
i was thinking of running a fuel line from regulator up front to spring loaded brass nozzle valve in hat distribution block. I was thinking of running a fuel solenoid between regulator and nozzle. Then count down seconds release and fire. This is for 2500 hp street car.
    Thanks guys.

well, i can tell you how we have done it for the last 15 years....no issues. i run a holley blue pump and fill all the lines on motor before i start the car. here's how i do it. run a line out of tank to 1 side of primer pump. out of primer pump through a jet can( with poppet valve inside) to a T fitting on my pump. if you look at the pic, the orange cap is where the primer connects, and the blue cap is the main fuel line to the barrel valve. when you turn on the pump( i use a starter button) it will fill all the lines on the motor and feed through all your nozzles. i hit the button until i hear it come out the hat nozzles, spin the motor and flip the switch.....works great. hope this helps

A bunch of us boat guys do what you are asking about. Alkydigger has a kit. Goodvibrations probably does. The check valve is 5 psi ish and a -4.
We have been discussing this over on performance boats. I use a NOS fuel solenoid and an airtex pump, but every couple years black goo leaks out of the pump and it dies. So, we debated on wiring to small, methanol internally leaking, etc.
Personally I just dump into the port line block. This is a nice low place to run the line. Clean installation. No other real reason.
Push button for 2 seconds, crank, run.

i bought the primer kit from good vibes.plumbed it into the distribution block for the hat lines.bought a holley blue pump & had speedwire put a momentary switch in my panel.i hit it twice for 2 to 3 seconds per hit & spin the motor.it fires every time.if it starts to die,i keep bumping the fuel switch until it picks up from the fuel pump.i run a supercharged 526.i start it completely from the cockpit.

I use a small aluminum bottle with an o-ringed fill cap and a -3 line out the bottom mounted to my motor plate. I also put an 1/8" NPT port on the top of the bottle (under the fill cap)for a schrader valve and psi guage on a "T" fitting. The -3 line goes up to the hat where I have a nitrous solinoid screwed into a nozzle port. I pressureize the aluminum bottle off the air compressor to about 30PSI. Just a tap or two on the solinoid to carry the motor until the alky picks it up.

Some guys have played with nozzle jetting this type of deal after the solinoid to where the motor will idle when the soliniod is hit - which is great for burning the alky out of the motor at the end of the weekend. I think.... .080ish nozzle?
I use gas to prime/light the engine.

Hope I didn't make this sound more complicated than it is - it's simple and works well. Joe

    Simple

instead of the check valve, the solenoid.... why not plumb a separate dedicated nozzle in the hat only for starting purpose ?
one pump, one hose and one nozzle, nothing else ??????

sound simple, I may forget something ?

    nene,
With no check valve or solenoid the engine will keep sucking all the fuel out of the primer tank creating a really rich condition followed by a lean condition once the primer tank is empty.

agreed, we plumbed a small Carter fuel pump into the hat distribution block via a #6 check valve and it works perfect every time.

i messed this up twice before i got it right.first i plumbed it straight to the upper distribution block & when the engine ran on the waterman pump, the pressure ran backwards through the primer nozzle & sprayed fuel out of the primer tank.i then ran the nozzle straight into the top of the hat & found when it started, the vacuum / pull from the blower sucked the fuel straight out of the primer tank & then sucked air when the fuel ran out.hopefully this helped you & you wont have go through the trial & error i went through.
