I'm hoping to find a reference for Larry. Nice enough guy and talks the talk, but the parts/money exchange starts getting a little sketchy. He's responded to ads on this site by cell phone (not just my ad), not a member. Thank you, Joe

    References on a Seller

As is my standard practice, before I send ANYBODY money for parts, I check them out, just like you are asking about. I also do a search on the internet to see if there are mentions of problems, I also search on the internet to see if they have a physical address where they say they do and then call a local mechanic shop to see if they have heard of this person. A lot of trouble, yes, but so is losing your money to someone who is not what they seem over the phone. If all else fails, have the seller list it on Ebay. At least Ebay has some buyer protections built in and you can get your money back most of the time.
Another of my two cents. You can keep the change.

    Thank you

TADHemiracer, I do appreciate your .02 - yeah my budget is tight, loosing money would shut me down.
Thank you for your advice and networking.
    Thanks Backmotor.

Just be sure the guy you're talking to is actually the real person.

Not the first time someone used another's name in a transaction.

    Good deal.

Thanks to all that replied on and off the board. A private party deal on opposite coasts can be a real crapshoot - especially when the dollars are big.
Larry was pleasant to deal with and the deal worked out perfect.
I'm posting this cause he has other items to sell. Not all deals are perfect.... but this one was. Joe
