    WHAT RPM DO YOU THINK I NEED TO SHIFT CAR AT TO START OFF WITH?NEW CAR AND NEVER BEEN DOWN TRACK YET.SPECS BELOW
    SPECS;
    540bbc blown alcohol engine
    4.50 bore
    4.25 stroke
    6.535 rods
    11.8 static comp.
    731/726 lift roller //114 lobe center //running dur 322--326//dur at .050 284--288
    brodix 2-plus heads W/FULL flow job
    12-71 blower 25%OD
    big&ugly injector hat
    port nozzles
    990 pump
    fuel system flowed by spud miller

    trans;;pg with brake
    1;80 straight cut gears
    10 disc high gear

    car is a CM CHASSIS altered
    35x17x16 slicks
    4.10 GEARS
    driver weights 180lbs [don't have car weight]

    7800 to 8000 rpms should be about right to start with.

    what class?

    What class or category are you running it in? Is it a bracket like the pro 7.0 deal or is it first guy to the finish line wins? If there is no real reason to wing it to the moon then don't- it would be easier on parts. Dave Germain

    i'll be more gudge like racing and exibition type racing..will be racing with the WESTERN FUEL ALTEREDS..basically they are paid to bring there cars[altereds only]to track and put a show on for everyone.they just race against each other.

    Don, I have followed your build for a while.

    Shift at 72-7500 and let the stroke work!

    See how the car reacts and get a feel for it.

    Then adjust the shift points up or down depending on what the car wants.

    Spud can get you dialed in.

    thats close to what I run for a combo. I started shifting at 7200 when we were just getting the tune up figured out. I now shift at 7500 sometimes 7800 if im not paying attention. I run the 7.0 pro stuff and don't have to spin it any higher for the number.
    as stated before, let the stroke work for you and why spin it harder than you need to.
