i am thinking about building another altered, and would like to know what everyone is running as far as crank center line goes. our car is just hard to see out of and i would like to make things a little easier on me if i can. i want to drop the motor a few inches, and kick up the bottom rail a little to give me a better line of sight. nothing wrong with the car, best car we have ever had.....i just want to see over the motor a little better. F/C guys please chime in here
    thanks,
    Darren

    crank center line

How high is the crank in your current ride? Depending on the depth of the oil pan you need 2-3" ground clearance . That will help determine how low you can set the engine. Dry sump pans are around 3-3.5" front, 5" in the rear, pan rail on a KB or BAE is about 3" from crank c/l so that adds up to 9-9.5 crank centerline. I find that's a little low, I usually set the jig at 10.5 to 11"

    10.5

ten to eleven is about right but I dont weld the telescope at the front mount til air is in the tires and the motor weight is in. I think its better to tweek the frame in the middle that last .250 then to move the front wheels up and down

thank you to everyone for the responses. i am at 11.5 right now with a dragster pan(tfx)..2.5 inches clearance...i see there is quite a bit to gain if i went to a dry sump with a little more kick on the bottom rails. just seeing if i am in the ball park right now....thanks again
