Our Projacks failed to lift the car this weekend. It would start lifting the car very slowly and then final stop lifting while the air pump part was still pumping.

I have seen it lack of air pressure the jacks stop, but the air pump would stop. This is not the issue. The air pump still sounds like its pumping, but the jacks just don't have enough to lift the car.

We checked the oil level and it looks ok. Anyone seen this issue? Is it a priming issue, air pump issue???

Any help would be appreciate. Don't really want to take it apart if it is something simple.

the cylinders are one way so if they are not leaking they lack oil to go up
check your fittings if you use quick change hoses, if they are nor fully connected they wont allow flow
does the pump speed up when they stop if so you re out of oil
to be sure use a gage on the line but remember it can go to 10,000psi so be carefull

We had a lot of problems with our jacks, none of which totally pointed at a bad power pack. We thought maybe we were fighting some type of air issue. I finally took our power pack into a hydraulic place to have it looked at & they ended up just making me a smoking deal on a new power unit. We haven't had one problem since.

Thanks for the replies. The air pump does seem to speed up when the jacks stop. We filled it full of fluid. It did not really help. What fluid does everyone use? The fluid in ours is really thin.

just use hydraulic jack oil. It's probably the pump. Body shop supply place will provide you with an much more economical replacement. My import replacement lasted twice as long as the original pump.

    Pump

I bought a cheap pump just for a back-up and when I tried it I had the same problem you are having. sent it back and bought a different brand and the new one worked fine. Richard Putz

Squirt a little wd-40 into the air inlet fitting of the pump, and plug your air back in.
Ive seen this fix, or temporarly fix this same issue, the cause most of the time was from water/condensation in the Air hose.,..drain your air compressor, water seperators and hose lines.

With hydraulics you must eliminate components by testing. The first is install a pressure gauge after the pump, if this is good then go to the cylinder.Remember that the pump creates flow not pressure. Pressure is the resistance to flow (internal relief valves) this can be the #1 problem usually do to contamination. Hope this helps.DAVE
