What is the current trend with Hemi flywheel bolts? Torque numbers, how many runs before replacing, how many runs before you need to recheck torque etc. Had mine come loose last time out (very unexpected and unusual) Wrecked the crank flange, wrecked the Ti flywheel. Don't want a repeat. Any clues? Thanks Murray

105-135 ft-lbs. is usually good. Just watch when you pull the flywheel, you can see the condition of the threads. Depending on how often you run, 10 races a year or less, I'd replace them every season or every other depending on how often you have the flywheel off.. Cheap insurance.. As far as re-checking torque, do it before you put the next clutch pack in. Some guys do it, others don't until they have one back out on them.

One more thing, don't just yank on the wrench till you hear the click, pull/push slowly so you're not adding any extra rotation. I've seen guys get as much as an extra quarter to eighth turn out of bolts AFTER they've been torqued already and just rechecking them because they're trying to do it too quickly.

We normally pull the flywheel up dry (no oil, no locktite) then pull the bolts out one at a time, red locktite them and torque to 100ft/lbs. I now see ARP recommends oiling the bolts and then torquing to 105-135ft/lbs. The flywheel normally comes of every 3 or 4 runs so the bolts probably got torqued 15 to 20 times this year. I know a couple of fuel guys that change bolts every lap. So I guess the dilema is locktite or oil ? 100ft/lbs or 130 ft/lbs, and how many torquings before replacing ?
