hello everyone. I hope someone can help me. I need to know ignition timing on how far to advance timing. I have a 92 tfx block, 526 hemi, 1471 blower with an msd mag 20. My timing is currently at 30 degrees should it be at 50 or 60 degrees with alcohol? Plus I have fuel heads not fat heads and no retard timers. Any input would be appreciated. thanks Glen

Depends on compression and blower boost, but typically the timing would be around 28 degrees with a 44 amp mag, not sure about a 20 amp mag, probably about 30 degrees.

    Safe Timing

You will be SAFE with 28 to 30 degrees of timing with the fuel heads-Jim

    Timing

30-32 degrees would be a good place to start. If you change spark plugs on every run you can read the electrode to see where the timing is. But timing is dependent on lots of things- compression, how rich the motor is, and altitude. If it was mine I would start about 30 or so and creep up on it. One of the scariest things about timing is that it will hurt parts faster than almost anything else you can do. Too much timing will beat the pistons and bearings out of it. Dave Germain
