48 degree or 45 degree block angles?

    Is the stock configuration of a Hemi, and the after market blocks, KB,TFX, BAE, etc all built on the same angle? If so, what is it? I thought they are all 45 degree,,,but I have a brand new Crane cam and it spec say 48degree. Any info is appreciated. Warren Dauzat

    The 45 degree is for the standard cam height, the 48 degree is for the raised cam blocks, pretty much necessary for any stroke much over 4.50" to keep the rods from hitting the cam. It is possible to put more stroke in a std cam block, but it usually takes special profiling on the rods or smaller chevy journals and smaller rods.

    There are also some early production Chrysler Mega Blocks that have a 50 degree lifter bank angle. Another different cam also required for those. Regards, Chase
