PSA progress report - "Founding Member" discount set to expire Mar. 11

Well we've been organized for just under a month (est. Jan. 18), and so far we have made quite a bit of progress.

If you haven't noticed, we have gotten quite a bit of press in the racing media. We got good coverage on the formation of the PSA and our hiring of Todd Veney. Last week we got a feature out on Jim Whiteley to the media, and just released a feature on Mickey Ferro yesterday. We will have one on Artie Allen go out today.

We have been given the green light by both CompetitionPlus.com and DragRacingOnline.com that they will run most, if not all of our material. We will also supply each of those websites with exclusive features on alcohol racers.

Todd was also successful in getting the Gainesville Sun to run short features on Mickey and Artie in Friday's paper, with a results wrap up on Sunday.

Several tracks have reached out and embraced what we are doing. Tri-State Raceway (Earlville) even joined as a paying member!

NHRA has been very receptive to what we are doing.

We have much more in store, but I am very pleased with the way things are going so far. I think it's safe to say we will get more media coverage than we ever have, which is a critical step in building our fan base back up.

I went out to Pomona (on my own nickel - not the association's) to get feedback from the racers out there. Most were receptive, a couple joined on the spot, a few gave us verbal commitments.

I hate to seem like I am bugging people, but this deal will not operate without money. If you can't swing the full membership right now, let us know what you can. We understand the economy is tough, but the season is on us already, and we have Todd working away. We also have some admin costs to tackle coming up.

With the checks we have received along with the verbal commitments I got in Pomona, we are at 33 members, which is about a third of the way to our goal of 100 members.

We originally set Mar. 1 as the date to get your dues in for the 'Founding Member' discount of $100, but we have decided to extend that to Mar. 11 to give us a chance to talk to the racers at the Gatornationals.

Until Mar. 11, dues will be $595 for the year. If you would like to send a check, make it out to the Pro Sportsman Association and send to:
