    Get out the rubber hammer then. Don't go too crazy with it or it will crack

    Jeff usually asks what starter you will be using to make room for it when he fabs the pan. I have a Powermaster XS tourque that fits fine... There is heaps of room on my pan for a bigger starter though

    I have run a Jeff Johnson pan for 8 years now, fits perfect. Just ordered a new pan and it fit as well. He does custom build around what ever starter you tell him your going to use. I did have to re-index the starter to work with the first pan but that was because of tight frame rails not his pan.

    just talked to person i got pan from[used]he informed me he was able to use a MSD mini starter on the pan so guess i'll need to sell my new powermaster hi torq starter and see if can find a good used MSD starter or even one that is bad and send back to MSD and have rebuilt..

    Might be better to make the cut out in the pan bigger. If your starter dies and you need to borrow one it could leave you without many options.... Also if this is a BBC Chev application make sure the O ring in the top section is sitting on the block properly. I have a Dart Big M and the O ring did not seal properly near the oil filter as it was not 100% on the block rail...

    Good luck buddy

    Pete;;;got a very good point there..this one must be older pan;;it still uses gasket on top half pan..the removable bottom has a "o" ring;;

    The best way to avoid fitment issues is to send "your" part. Unless you are told anything will fit, it becomes a nightmare for everyone. At one time batteries were group this or that, now "every" one is different. Unless I have my own mock-up part or template, I tell all my customers I need the parts in hand. Even when I have something "custom" made I always ask "would you like my part ?".
    Just saying, it can avoid situations like this.
