i have a 2600lb door car with about 1300hp, 34.5/17/16 hoosier. The car when doing a roll through burnout leaves chatter marks on the track after the burnout. Cant really feel it in the car. Just seems to shake the tyres. I have had them at 6.5 and 7psi tyre pressures. Any ideas?

What rpm are you doing this at. Sounds to like it might be too low of rpm to keep the tire rolling. My car would do same thing and I just increased rpm. 7500 or so is what I do but if the track is really good it will grab the tire and pull the motor down quickly.

    Burnout tire shake

It sounds as though the car is starting to hook up and you can see it in the tire tracks? Lots of cars will do that towards the end of the burnout. You can minimize it with more power, or by lifting at the end of the burnout. I try to roll into mine fairly gently in the beginning but at the end you need to lift more abruptly. Feathering in on your burnout will work but I don't believe feathering the power will work at the end. Lift more abrupty and the car will stop spinning and stop shaking. Even though you can't feel the shake the tire tracks say it is shaking. Dave Germain

Wow, 6.5 psi and above is a lot of tire pressure for a 2600 lb car with that size tire. Try dropping them down to 5.75 psi and see if it still does it.

thats a lot of tyre for the power and weight I used to run a 4 speed lenco sportsman car with that kind of power and weight and it was happy on the 33" tires and shake wasnt an issue ever,
    other wise what Mike says,
decreasing the presure lowers the tyre contact patch giving less traction

my rpm in the burnout is about 6500. It shakes the tyres right from the hit in the burnout until i get off it. Im finding with less tyre pressure that in a run the car wants 2 get loose about 450ft out. I think it may be coming off the tyre a bit. Im running a powerglide 1.8 first gear

My injected front motor car would spin, shake, grab and bounce the front tires off the ground in the burn out. The starter would look at my car after the burnout shake his head and then wave me into stagging. After the third time he did this I went and asked him why he kept looking at my car funny and shaking his head, he told me he had never seen a car lift the front wheels in a burn out before. More tire speed in the burnout solved that issues.

On my rear engine dragster 7 lbs tire pressure would never hook. Ran 5 lbs on Goodyears and 5.5 lbs on hoosiers.

If you have a rev limiter, and it hits it, bad shake can happen. I've seen it bend a rear wing!

    tire shake in burnout

I Had a similar problem before in my Top Dragster. I had a local tire dist. mount my rear slicks when I was in a bind for time. They used an antibacterial soap on the inside of the tire, claiming it stops preasure loss. The tires sat over the off season . same thing shaking like crazy and flutter on the top end. the soap actually corroded and ruined my wheels and caused a bulk of aluminum corrision powder to float around in the tire and cause a serious balance issue. The sodium chloride in the soap reacted with the aluminum and moisture from filling the tire and caused electrolysis .
