i have a 540ci bbc. BB2 heads, 11.1 comp, teflon 8/71, 36% over, big and ugly, 15psi boost, isky cam 112lc 290dur, 12amp msd mag. The engine just isnt making the power. Car weighs 2580lbs with me in it. Its showing just under 1000hp. It is a little fat but not heaps. Timing is at 33 deg. 2 me i thought it should make 22psi boost and 1350hp. Any ideas guys. Thanks

Are you getting your HP numbers from ET and MPH or the dyno? I had a very similiar setup once but 18 psi and was making 1350 HP.

BB2 head has a small runner for a blown engine. A CNC 3XTRA on a 540 with 15# of boost should make 1600hp @ 7000 with a safe, bracket race style tuneup.

I'm also thinking you are low on boost. I turn my not so fresh STD 8-71 28% over and it makes 15-17lbs on my 572.

we had a 12-71 standard helix on a 568 with 10:1 compression, 855/799, 286/298 @ .050 cam on 114, made 1436 hp at 7000 rpm with 14 lbs of boost driven at 20% over. this was on the dyno with 2 alky carbs
