    mag

mallory uses the stupid little red plastic adapter 2 pin thingy.

I have a similar animal on my tractor. I'm sure Mallory copied it.

I know that Mallory makes them, but what I'm asking is can you also get them out of an old grain truck engine also? Like if I find a 366 in a C60 from the 70's, will this base be the same or similiar enough to modify it some and use it?

I have 2 of them and don't know where they came from???

Sodak, what nitro bandit is trying to say is....no.
All that stuff you are looking at are aftermarket items.

Are you saying you have 2 mallory bases or 2 offset drives? If offset check the connecting spud. That will usually dictate which brand it is or what it's intended mag was.

I just assumed that the non offset mag drive bases were from something that rolled off the Detroit assembly lines back many years ago.

    more on mag bases

mallory went through the trouble to improve the base around the transition from the shaft to the base area. the old ones...green/yellow in color were one cast piece. when people started hanging heavier generators on them and shaking the tires more than roots era cars then mallory went to a two piece "shiny machining/no coating" with a heavier neck and a bolted on "cup" for the mag. two of the later ones are available in the classifieds. Good luck, Bryce
