We've been using Mr Gasket #121 and #122, really have no complaints other than it seems like we should be able to take the intake off without ruining the gaskets and that rarely happens. I keep thinking about o-rings around the ports.

How do you set your port alignment? With gaskets you can use a different thickness or more gaskets, etc. What is the common way to set port height when its a o-ringed seal?

What do you use on your chevy and why do you like it?

We always glue the gaskets to the head with the "Right Stuff" and then grease the side that hits the manifold. It seals great and the gasket does not tear when you disassemble and you can go for a long time with one set of gaskets. Works with any thickness of gaskets. Of course you need to "Right Stuff" the manifold ends and the corners.

If you don't glue both sides, you better check the gaskets really good if the motor ever coughs. I use to glue just to head, but motor had a small hickup on a cold start.....it pushed the intake out at the top above the port on #3. I have heard others say thats a problem if you run the thick gaskets. Just a thought.

What boost numbers are you guys running? Also, are you running them pretty lean?

We run the felpro That don't have top bolt holes with the metal core. Glue the head side had the intake off several times 1 season. Just watch the corners while pullin the intake. Blew the burst pnl went lean 38 psi no problem with the intake gasket did push the head gasket though. I only have 360 ports

Gluing both sides defeats the purpose of his question--to be able to take off intake without destroying gasket everytime . I use the Fel-Pro and glue head side (we run two nearly identical motors) and a very light film of silicone to the intake side (spread with finger thin) and not had intake problems--head gasket problems yes, intake no. 540 BBC, 14-71 HH, 45% over, about 35# boost. Have coughed blower a couple of times--we aren't required to use a burst panel--just do a little trick with the blower gasket that acts as our safety valve. JW

    Howdy....
I used to runs some hand made teflon sheet inlet gaskets on my old NA engine. Has anyone tried this material with a blown engine. It was brilliant stuff (comes in different thicknesses) a little bit of silicone each side and ready to go and re-use as many times as you like. I am currently (blown alcohol) using Felpro and gluing to the head only only have the manifold once but works fine.. so far  A guy I know has a blown BBC in a dragster that has run 5.60's and he uses the same method.
