    Hello all,

Never used electronic bits on our cars, always tried to keep it simple. ;)

However when I imported my car from the states it had on it an MSD 8950 (rpm activated switch) and 8737 (3 step)

My question is this, well questions...

I plan to use the 8950 with my Powerglide and shifter solenoid (IE to shift at xxx revs)

With the 8737 can I also fit this for

A - connect to trans brake switch with chip so I can 'floor it' on the line

B - use as a rev limiter IE - chip with 8,500rpm for example.

C - I also guess I will need to set up a solenoid to get fuel away from engine when sitting on the line using (A) ?

This is a dial in deal so I want 7.20-7.30's every run.

Engine is blown BBC - mild tune with Powerglide - in a 125" altered.

EDIT - Ignition is Mallory SuperMag II so assume I will need to use a PRO mag tach convertor to get signal to MSD parts ?

Any help or advice would be great.

    Thanks.

I'm not aware of how to make the MSD 8950 & 8737 work with a Mallory SM II or that anyone else is making a similiar setup work.

Really? Surely if I use the Promag tach convertor to get the signal to the 8950 it will work? Only to use to shift via solenoid

    Spud

A good guy to ask would be Spud Miller at FIE. He is the guy who just bought the Mallory line and would probably know more about them then anybody else. He is a very nice and knowledgeable guy. Most of the guys here are pretty involved with the MSD ignitions. Combining the two systems leaves me in the dark completely. Dave Germain

Hey, if you get this to work, please let me know.

Otherwise for about $350 you can buy a ETC rev limiter with switch (to activate shift light) to work with the Mallory.

Had a reply from Spud, basically the 8950 will work but with the promag tach convertor, so i will use that for shifting

    8737 won't work though
