Looking at moving from my Rodeck T chevy style engine to a KB hemi. The engine I am looking at is complete hat to pan . The block is a KB aluminum unit but not sure of which version. Supposedly it is ex top fuel (aren't they all) It has one repaired window in it. The heads are Dart. and the valve covers say stage 2 . I was told it is a waterblock. If I find the stamped block number will this Identify the block version. Just want to make sure it is a race worthy block and not an expensive street motor. Is it as strong as my solid Rodeck T chevy block?

Thanks, I will do a search on the internet for a contact number for KB and call. I should have thought of that but for some reason figured they were out of business.

I might be mistaken but i believe the stage 3 was a true water block copied from the late model 426 in its time
    stage 4 solid counterpart
    3and 4 single side bolt
5 and up double side bolt
    all i can remember

    Block ID

There should be a number stamped into the block above the oil pump. On a stage 10 the numbers go 10-XXX - I don't know how far this goes back on KB blocks, but the first numbers would be he stage #, then the last numbers are the ser number of the block. KB has always been a good help when you provide these numbers. Ken is still there running things as far as I know.
