I would be interested in purchasing a Blower that did not pass inspection even if disassembled. The sale could be kept 'confidential'.

You can send a personal message here or send to my email dhitt776@yahoo.com

How does that work? Don't you have to send it back to get it recerted? Wasn't PSI not re-certifying blowers with Kevins coating for awhile. If Nhra had someone else, like Kevin, able to re-certify then maybe it would keep the sfi re-cert cost down. Seems like the price triples every three years.

My 3 year old blower was recerted and "modified" (balanced and blueprinted) by PSI in August, okay at Dallas National, and then flunked and taken off at Reynolds Divisional...can I run it now?

What are the "newest" specs or actions to be taken by us racers that are left with a blower we cant run that was redone by PSI?

    :(

Every time a screw needs recert it ether comes back in a box with the rotors knocked apart or it costs about half the cost of a new one. When was the last screw failure and wye are we needing recerts every 3 years when you can modify a roots and change rotors in your shop.Needs to be more than one manufacturer or other options on recertifications.I am scared to send blowers back, since they are returned junk.

Top Alcohol Funny Car drive, Tony Bartone, has been fined $5,000 by NHRA for an illegal modifications made to the supercharger at the Automobile Club of Sothern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Pomona, CA.

The folks at NASCAR approach similar incidents like this: Confiscate the competitor's evil parts, identify the competitor, put the parts out where anyone can have a look at them, and also fine the competitor. Seems like a reasonable deterrant...... Regards, Chase

Where can this information be verified? I think everyone would like to be in the know of where this information is published..........And is it Tony or Rick Jackson?

Not sure Tony would even be aware of the mods - one would think Boggs or Jackson would be mentioned.

Thanks for the link, I haven't been on NHRA.com for anything other than points in SOO LONG I didn't even know that page existed LOL

Too bad that all of this started in Gainesville this year and the powers to be aren't consistent in their opinions (referring to Steve G.'s Post) of legal and illegal.

Not much information on their (NHRA) site. Is the fine for having a performance advantage over other competitors or for modifying a SFI certified product.

    Cheating is Cheating!

In my opinion regardless wether it was knowen to Bartone or it was Jackson/Boggs they all should be stripped of their 2011 points for the entire year and return all the money won for all the races they were also probably cheating at. I know it was only Pomona but who is to say they havent been doing that for two years???? And if you dont agree put yourself in the shoes of the guys that have lost final rounds to them at national events this year! We (the rest of us alcohol racers) race our butts off LEGALLY and now we have guys like that with illegal parts and possibly sneaky fuel too? Makes me sick to be honest cause there are alot of honest people in the sport and its just being ruined! I sure hope NHRA changes the way they check our cars and pray that PSI one day isnt the only blower company to buy from!

I hope there is an explanation for this, to outright cheat is just plain shitty. There are few things more well known regarding rules/illegal/mods than the fact that you cannot modify the case of the supercharger or the supercharger in any way. I like Rick, Scott, Chris, Tony, and those guys - so I'm not saying this out of spite and I don't know who truly is responsible. This isn't even in my class, TAD, but this just shows you it could be. My dad and I, as well as others, spend every dime we have to go out there and play with the big boys; to the point we may have to sit out next year to recoup. I would get absolutely no satisfaction out of cheating my competitors out of wins, I'd rather have my ass kicked up and down the track but be fair than cheat. I hope a release comes out soon explaining this, too many teams work too hard to have to race against an unfair advantage. That team has more $ than just about anyone in TA racing (more power to Rick J. - not jealous just stating a fact). Boggs, Bartone, Mayer, Scott (Lenco), Chris; to have all that talent and cheat....not cool. The icing on the cake is a $5k fine, that's like fining me $50. I'm not sure what is an appropriate punishment, but Monroe got a year ban for a tire that wasn't even ILLEGAL - no performance advantage, ill-advised choice - absolutely, but he didn't cheat anyone out of anything.

You guys are missing the big picture and the FAILURE AGAIN of the NHRA to go after the source and origin of the Modifications, Which is PSI,.....

Unless you had Collins that weekend or maybe another inspector that was aware of the mods that have been made to a handful of Top Alky Racers, the mod was sight unseen and Only PSI and or the engine builder or car owner new.

How about PSI offering these blueprinted mods last year or earlier this year that would add the 140hp increase for something like $2300, or $2500.00,...

The PSI screw blower is the blower for Top alcohol race cars and its that way because the NHRA wont allow others to produce other comparable screw blowers ITS CALLED MONOPOLY,..!!!! and now that manufacturer has broken the holy grail of all rules.
PSI performed and sold ILLEGALLY Modified blowers / blower cases/ or a modification service to the drag racer without their mods being approved first by the NHRA.

Where is PSI`s fine,..????? ,...or will they just get told dont do it anymore,..??? Mean while customers are out however many of thousands of dollars and stuck with a Illegally modified blower and or blower case.
Will PSI GIVE the alky racers that have the cases deemed illegal new ones FREE OF CHARGE,..as they should regaurdless,.....

Or,...Will it turn out and be just like every other dirty case with the NHRA, that PSI will will submit the mod changes to the tooling and the blowers will be produced with the mods in the factory casting and this will all be swept uder the carpet, but yet You guys will have to buy new blowers anyways to meet the new spec, and Tony Bartone will nbot be refunded his money.

    Dont cry,..
That is unsportsman like conduct, it is what it is, and you/we all keep buying into it because you/we have no other alternative NOR CHOICE becuse we love racing and the NHRA knows it,...So untill you all band together it will keep on being NHRA`s FOR PROFIT organization based upon themselves, by themselves, and for themselves.

The modifications on the Bartone/Rick Jackson/Boggs/Darren Mayer(DMPE) blower had nothing to do with PSI this time. The three (3) modifications came from Darren Mayer DMPE.
