    Forget the regionals. NHRA moved the alcohol from Englishtown NATIONAL (quick count says there are 19 alcohol teams within 200 miles of Englishtown) to Charlotte (Quick count 1 or 2 teams with in 200miles). then they will say they don't get a car count. Good idea, put the races where the racers aren't.

    A Historical place we will never run again. bummer!

    Well,
    No alcohol classes at the 2012 Supernationals so...no "Charlie" at the 2012 Supernationals.
    By the way it will be my first "no show" since 1992...
    Enjoy that, NHRA...

    Why did they drop the alcohol classes from Englishtown?

    I can not imagine Englishtown without alcohol cars. The K Mart supercharger shows..the div 1 races,,the wed night matchraces..My favorite memory is having Buster
    Couch sending me into stage. The place was the center of div 1 drag racing.I was always treated fairly and enjoyed racing there.
    My fear is that this is the next survival tactic for this facility..
    Whether its a legal issue or more noise restrictions, we need to give them hope for a future and a large heartfelt thank you for the memories. Thank you Vinnie for what you started and left behind.

    Iam asking,i have been going there since 1974.This just goes to show that the suits making the decisions really do not get it.I know car counts are low at some nationals,but
    e -town!!!!!

    I'm sure you'll never hear the real reason why. I'd like to think it had something to do with noise ordinance or something. The real reason probably had more to do with having an opportunity to drop $67k in purse. Definitely sucks for the racers in that region.

    I'm sure the official reason that will be given would be to put a race back in the southeast after losing so many divisionals down there.

    after all these changes, maybe nhra should consider changing the points so that you also count national events toward the regional points championship. Areas that do not have a lot of regional races (div 2) can chase the regional championship at tracks closer to home. Maybe this will increase car count and generate interest in the class and car counts increase at regional events.
