I don't know what is going on yet but I just saw Tony Bartone and Paul Gills car tow by in front of the tower about an hour after they lost second round with no blower or hat....

One way or the other detailed inspections will clarify whether they are within the rules.

    Oxygen Additive

Will, why don't you do a poll on here and see how many people are bending the rules and using the oxygen additive in there fuel ? I never have and never would. I heard most people are using it as NHRA can not detect it. Have you ever used it ??? I for one can say I have never bent the rules to win a round of racing in my life. I know a bunch of racers that have bent the rules for years and a lot of them being big names and having big time tuners. Just my 2 cents !!!!! Richard Putz TAD Div.5:mad:

maybe not what it appears to be

just for the record I just talked to paul gill. he has his blower in his trailer in pieces, it PASSED nhra inspection. to our knowledge this is the first 4 complete blower teardowns this year.It appears that its inferred the the inspected teams are automatically guilty. I don't know how the other teams made out, but just because they were torn down does not mean they were cheating. I have been on paul's team for 8yrs. I feel confident in saying if paul or his team has to cheat to compete "WE QUIT". There has been a problem with new castings from PSI, this is the only way nhra has to see who has what. I think if they are going to check a few blowers at a few races, why not check them all at all races.

The PSI blower case is a "Cast" blower case, with the injector and plate off they are looking for any machining,. yes "ANY" maching,.. work or modifications done to the blower case.
It doesnt matter if PSI made the Mods or not the factory cast case is deemed Illegal.

The latest Illegal mod they are looking for is in the front of the rotor area of the case and just under the front rotor area at the shoe or shelf, what has been done is that area has been machined down to allow more clearence or exiting flow area to the intake.

These mods may soon be cast into the blower from PSI or who ever really makes the case, but to have it,..you got to buy a new blower or case,....more ka-ching.

Dumb Question, so if there is suspected modifications in use, why check them AFTER the respective team was done with eliminations?

There was enough rain and all teams were there on Wed. for Thursday qualifier, why not after Thursday or Friday prior to eliminations? Why not after Gill ran the stellar 5.504 (nice pass btw) or when Rick Jackson's Car ran that (nice pass too)

And what would have happened if they found something at the point they did? keep the round money?? lose some points? Last race of the year, fine the team? not sure I understand who was protesting and for what reason at that point in time of the season, maybe they were confused from the weather and it needs to be done at the Winternationals.......(HA HA of course all kidding aside) we're just curious, why then?

Now that the blower's have been taken apart by someone other than psI they have to be sent back to be recertified. NHra is said to be paying for it? Guess we will see? Got ours back in pieces!

one of the main reason Nancy is similar to the NHRA tearing down a bullet after a record, because they can see in the combination on that run was illegal. If the blowers were checked prior to racing them mods could be made after. Also many teams have two-four PSI's in their trailer, is NHRA going to check them all prior, I don't think that would be prudent.

    good to clear the air

well unless any major punishments are handed down, I think it will be good to clear the air. i did not infer that anyone was guilty. i think it's pretty relevant to the class, and if i hadn't posted it, someone else would.

they can check for the PSI blueprinted case without disassembling the blower. I think they were looking for other mods to the rear plate, bearing areas, outer case, outlet, etc.

Are these 'illegal mods' available from PSI? Is this like the coating deal that they were offering when you sent your blower back to get recerted and some teams had to take them off because of the coating? Seems NHRA should step in and do something about the monopoly that PSI has on the blowers and do something to make that part of it more afforable.

They did check all our blowers at the Reynolds Divisional...they did not tear them down but took had us take the injectors off and the inspected them. I told by J.C. that any rotor coatings were fine but you could absolutely not have any machining or changes to the case. It would be a shame if PSI modifies the case and ups the money game one more time.

Just because you take something apart doesn't mean you have to send it back for recert. Some guys take apart there ati dampers and change alastemers. As far as I know everone with an alcohol or nitro clutch take there clutch hat and shoe apart to resurface it.

If those extra coating are worth something wouldn't restripping it once in a while as well? As long as its kept cool when its broke in . I can see light through it some must leak by.

I would be curious what they would find in Frank Manzo's Supercharger, Im NOT accusing him of Cheating in case some you get that implication! But when your .06-.10 ahead of every car out there....just saying!

Nothing.. ask anyone who's bought one.. Frank and the boys magic bullets are in how they use what they got.. And with the way that car runs, you can bet they've been torn down more than any two other teams combined.
