Many teams were called a few months ago and offered "140 hp for $2500" via "blueprinting". It has become somewhat common knowledge that this "update" has been deemed illegal and teams have been forced to remove the modified blowers. The rules clearly state no modifying the case, why would PSI do this and harm the customer? It's not my place to say who has had their blowers disallowed, but it's been several of the top teams. The news hot off the presses is that as of today, NHRA is accepting the update (we shall see). If that is in fact true, others should be allowed to modify the case as well.

If NHRA is accepting the update, then why have so many people had to pull theirs off during a race? Is Collins trying to back to back blowers to show us how little if any performance gain there is?

My theory is if someone wants to spend 2500 on another magic bullet out there, have at it, but I'm pretty sure there were plenty of cars hauling ass before PSI's cold calling.

    cold call updates...

Do any of you remember in the 90's they just UPDATED your case when it was recerted and you had no choice??? All cases sent in got changes and Glendora was running around the Winters and world finals teching and measureing and making pictures of every case. tech was done with the blower off the car and upside down on the table. They changed them all and the powers that be had to accept it because they all couldn't be rejected.....Sneeky but effective. Sounds like someone needs to get an accepted competitor for blowers...
    YA right when PIGS fly...

    according to collins

According to Jim Collins whom I asked in Reynolds last weekend after he inspected my blower they (nhra) intend to make the modified blowers illegal. I asked him what he thought would happen considering that there are a number of people who jumped on the deal. He said (essentially, not quoting him exactly) that he intended to push for them to be disallowed as it was done against the rules and would make it unfair for lower funded teams who can't afford the upgrade ant the testing to make it competitive.

personally I agree with him. Rules are Rules and just because a bunch of people drank the kool-aid shouldn't be the grounds for changing them. If this case modification is allowed then does that mean I can do whatever I want to mine? Can I do it myself? If I decide to modify mine and get a bunch of others to go along, would they change the rules for us? Just because a bunch of us already did it? I don't think so. Where do we draw the line. PSI knew better than to do it and should have to replace the effected units.

    two were removed

Two of the modified blowers were removed at Reynolds. Steve Gasparelli and Todd Veney. Doesn't sound like it is being accepted to me.
