Well, I'm the proud owner of a new Crower Triple disc clutch. I had a buddy come by the shop the other day and I noticed he was spinning the ring on my indicator before I could stop him. So needless to say its now off. Whats the easiest way to reset it to the .702"? Just use a caliper directly on the dial or maybe set the clutch with the caliper and then match the dial to that? Or is there another procedure thats better?

    Thanks
    Corey

Take a 3/8 piece of tube, weld a plate to cover one end, take a caliper to measure depth and cut to length to the proper height and you'll have a height checking fixture. Stick the indicator in and zero.
They probably sell a tool that does it too, I made my own

    Dial Indicator

Good Idea, my T&D pinion depth tool has a set of the tubes to do that for various depths, never thought of that. I'll just fab one up.

After looking at this clutch, I'm sure there will be a lot more questions, compared to my old POS Mcleod this thing looks like its off the space shuttle or something.

    Thanks

Crower or Molinari sell a setting fixture. Check your gauge often.

What tool are you talking about? What do you do with it? I tried finding it on Crower's website with no luck.

    Dial

Its the dial you use to set your pressure plate installed height. Its pre-set at .702" unless some dummy decides to play with the dial and move it

Its what they call "zeroing your clutch" I'm just learing this so there are la lot of better people to explain it.

Before I bought this clutch I wanted to find some info about them and besides this forum there is very little. Seems when you by one you get the instructions and dial for $4000 bucks and they throw the clutch in for free.:D

just remember you have to go around once, and then to zero. You can call and talk to Roger at Crower. I purchased a triple disc clutch from them over 10 years and never used it until this year. I had a couple of question and decided to call and talk to someone at Crower and Roger was more then helpful. Apparently there was a discrepancy in the spring chart that came with the clutch and what it actually was.

Thanks, I have an email into Roger, when he sent my clutch and booklet he didn't tell me which springs I have so I don't know which chart to go by. I think I'm just going to phone him and ask about a calibration standard if they have them.

Not sure on how he is on responding to emails, but I do know that he is the only one there and stays pretty busy. If you call, he will answer, he may be out of breath, but he will answer. LOL. He faxed me a over a new spring chart and was even nice enough to do the math to what my pressure would be if I were to jockey the springs around.
