I am very sorry to hear that. Condolences to Rick, Jeff and the rest of the Santos Family. George was certainly one of the best. No doubt about that. We raced against the Santos Team often, and when you did, you knew you were racing against one of the best out there. It made us a better Team, and for that, I thank them.

To the Santos Family and Friends, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

    Rest in Peace, George...

    Pioneer

While I never really got to know Mr. Santos more than an acquaintance at the track, I certainly knew about him growing up around the class. Definitely one of the pioneers of the TAD class from the Pro Comp days, and a legend in Small Block Chevy circles.

Was a part of one of the most impressive budget racer 'shots' heard around the class when he helped Russ Lindert run a mid .30 something in the early 2000's with BAE 4's and an older car.

Our condolences and prayers for the entire Santos family.

    Services for george santos

George was a friend and mentor for many years, as well as my neighbor. He and Ricky have worked on my motors for as long as I can remember. George I loved you like a second father and you will be sorely missed.

The services will be held this Saturday, October 8, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, CA 94542

George was truly an innovator, an iconic presence in the T/A classes and one helluva great guy. Always had time to teach a kid about the basics of the blown small block back in the day...and The Mouse that Roared was legendary and will always hold a special place in my heart.

My condolences to the entire Santos family for their loss.

Will be missed. He was probably one of the nicest guys in the TAD ranks I ever met.
My favorite memory when I first saw him at a race with a screw blower that was bigger than the small block engine he was running it on!

    George Santos Remembered

I would like to add to the condolences sent to the Santos family. I first met George in 1992 at the Medford race track in southern Oregon. My brothers George, Bob and myself were running our car for the first time at a divisional race. It was somewhat of an oddity since the motor combination was a B-1 wedge, a big block chrysler version of a small block chevrolet. Nearly everybody else was running the traditional BAE fathead, we stuck out to say the least. I will never forget how George Santos was the first to come over and introduce himself and tell us how cool he thought our motor was. We had fabricated most of our own parts (manifold, headers, etc.) and George showed great interest. After our first run he came over to show me how to "read" spark plugs and rod bearings. We had no computers back then! We went on to be friends for many years and I most certainly would consider him to be one of my mentors. I'll always remember how he referred to the "B" team compared the "A" team. This was a joking comparison to the blower cars and the a-fuel cars during all the controversy back then. Of course the blower cars were the "B" team because we couldn't run the numbers some of those damn nitro cars were!
George, I know you're with the "A" team now. Make sure you stop by and say hi to my friend Mark.
    RIP

Mike I too remember the "A" vs "B" (I thought it was the "A" main and "B" main)

George will surely be missed from all of us from North of the border.

That team (the S&S Automotive BAD team) with George as the leader was flat out bad ass, and he was one of my heros.

I remember them arriving up at Ashcroft in around '93, and George was white as a ghost after travelling through the Fraser Canyon.

    God Speed George

My condolences to the entire Santos Family on George's passing.
It was always a learning experience when talking with George, whether I was taking a shelf piston order from him or discussing something different, new, or inovative to try on the next set of custom pistons. One of the qualities that impressed me most about George was his directness. He was not hesitant to tell you exactly what he felt if you asked him a question. I, like many others, am very fortunate to have known George.

I remember George saying one time before the days with O'Bannon, "I will never run a G-damn valve spring eating hemi."
