I got a deal on some 16x16 beadlocks for my altered but have to space them out 1 inch as the backspace was wrong, I am apprehensive on this big a spacer? should I be? The car has a 533 BBC, 14-71, 1800 HP, and has a 40 spline non floater axle set up....Help?

We have.a local racer here that runs a 1 inch spacer, the only problem he had was finding a place that sold em. So he just got a machine shop to make em for him insted of using 2 x 1/2 spacers on either side. He has been a best of 6.88 on em with no troubles yet (knock on wood) hope this helps.

I ran 3/4" spacers that were on the car when I bought it. It was an altered and ran in the 7s, but it had a floater rearend. I didn't like the set up, and would have changed it had I kept the car, but it did work OK.

1" seems too thick to me? You will need some long studs. Put floaters on it and that will cure your problem.

    My big axle

not that it wont work, but i think nhra has a rule about how quick you can go without a floater rearend, and sounds like that thing should run real quick.might check the rules on this one. putting floaters on might solve the wheel issue.

it has Hoosier's on it and I was just told Goodyears have an inch less section width.....that should move the spacer size down to 3/4 or 5/8? maybe that will help!

What size tire are you running? If it's the 34.5" size, Hoosier had the smallest bulge.

they are 34.5s and the G-years are 1/2" narrower on the bulge...looks like it will still need a 3/4 inch spacer though!!

Have they come out with a new tire that I have missed? I went through this drill and the Hoosier 18780 tire has a 1/2" less bulge (section width) than any Goodyear 34.5" tire and .900 less than Hoosier's original 34.5" tire. I use them and a .250 spacer with a floater. Gives me room for the four link bars. Hope this helps.
