Anybody heard anything? Rumor - NHRA is looking at a new class in Comp for Blown Dragsters only! A place for fast Top Dragsters that want to go faster than 6.0 and for Top Alcohol Dragsters that want to race without the expense of TAD.

    new class in comp

great idea for those that want to work their way up to top alcohol ... why not a f/c class as well ??... as for the powerglide deal ... why limit it ?? those pg's aint stock and ain't cheap and they don"t allow them in top alky or pro mod ... maybe make it optional ?? run what you want ???? nice to learn something about clutches before going up to top alcohol ?? there is an et limit ?? I heard cool down time was the problem for top dragster clutches if your not ready you miss the call .... this deal is a step up right ?? just saying :=D

i believe this new class is an escape for killing alcohol classes. if the past is a predictor of the future look @ the end of modified eliminator and prostock truck eliminator - give the racers a place to go as they kill your class. wouldn't this fix the low car counts in alcohol divisional races. just a thought. awb

So if this is a comp eliminator class and the index is 5.90, you need to run at least .50 under your class index to be competative in comp eliminator.

Just to clarify my above statement. Comp. Elim. is a great class as long as you have a ton of money and time to spend with no hope of return. I was involved in Comp for several years. Most all of heavy hitters in comp can run over .60 under their index but are careful about what they run so they don't get their index hit for running too quick. Someone comes along with a ton of money and dyno time and kills your class index a tenth or so, then they move on. You now have 2 choices either spend a bunch of money to pick up your program so you can qualify or change to another class in comp. The smart guys in comp have built their cars so they can switch classes to where the index is more favorable. With a blown dragster I don't think you will have that option. 32 to 64 car fields with a large number of the cars running slower than 8.00. The payouts are also nothing to brag about. Just my 2 cents. Not trying to be negative, just realistic.
