blower starter

    going to need to buy a starter coming up..bbc/12-71 blower/alcohol/22% O.D.;;;
    what's things i need to look for when buying?
    been on line and seen them for 24v/36v/48v and so on..would like to buy only once..at this time have no plains on going bigger or more O.D. just want to furfull my long life dream of building/own/drive a fuel altered.

    Your best bet is an RCD starter with 36 volt. Less weight to have to drag around and less money involved once the batteries take a dump. I have been using one on 24 volts for five years or so without a minutes trouble just make sure you put good cable on it and make sure they are tight.

    don, you might check and see. some of our guys run a block mounted chevy style starter on their altereds. might be easier for you.

    I'd run a block mounted starter for what your doing but if your planning on running fuel do a 36 volt RCD setup. Just remember you need a extra crew guy to pack the starter back to the the tow vehicle. That's why I run a block mount starter that way you can still run with a minimal crew

    we run a block mount starter and love it. we just plug in the batteries from the golf cart/truck, and it works really well. if you are going to run anything but a full load of nitro.....i would recommend this method. you running a chevy or hemi? if a hemi, i can set you up with the starter location and help you with a few things.

    THANKS EVERYONE;;sounds like i'm going with block starter..Darren..i have a bb chevy so it will be a snap to go block starter on it..also only running a mallory supermag111 so this darma is solved then..lol
    there again thanks everyone..sometimes i ask some simple and stuipd things but i do it to make sure i'm on right track on my thoughts and build..
