I know the tire shake subject has been handed around quite alot, but I have to bring it up again.

We made 3 decent attemps to launch our FED last saterday with a completly new motor, and it shook every one of them.

We kept launching harder and the shake just got worse.
It seems to start right at the hit, last 10 or 15 feet then kind of fade away, is that normal?

Could the wheelie bar hitting too hard start something like that?

We also had more air in the tires than what we used to run with the injected motor, maybe that was a bad idea.

It still did a 1.105 60' time, I dont think thats too bad for our first time out and having it shake on us.

How big are your rear tires? When I had my FED, J ED Horton told me to run 33x15x15 rear tires, they were alot less wide than the tires that I started with. Helped it a ton, let me get the wheelspeed i needed.

I believe the tires are MT 33x10.5wx15, just short of 12" tread width. We had 9.0psi in them at the time.

Are you running a converter or a clutch? I have never ran that much pressure in a slick before, but I will tell you that I have had success with 7, but it all depends on your combo.

Tire pressure way to high, I'd start around 6 psi area.
Does not sound like the tires were slipping enough or not at all.

Yeah, too much pressure. Start at 6 lbs.

Looks like I have the answer I was after, lower tire pressure. I'm not sure why I raised it in the first place

    Thanks guys.

    More than one way ?

We run a FED that is about 1970 pounds and M&H 12 x 16 Tires. with tubes and liners we run 10 lbs in the tires and 40 lbs in the liners. With bead locks we run 11 lbs.
If it shakes the tires we put more air in.
    It works for us.

we also run a fed but with 14 32 good years on bead locks... also use more air pressure to clean up shake.... frank parks told me in a phone conversation about tire shake that they never got a 33" tall tire to work well on a fed.... too much side wall... i always wanted to try a set of 10.5w x 31.5 on my 14"wide beadlocks... mike 708 205 9052
