Anyone know approx how much a Hoosier 33.5x17x16 will grow? We only have about a 1/2" clearance on the outer edge of the tread, front of the car side.

What do you mean outer edge of the tread? As the tire grows, it will get narrower. If you only have a 1/2 inch in the center of the tire, the tire will hit the body. My altered had 3/4 to 1 inch all the way around, and still touches once in awhile.

    Josh....
i had those tires on my altered a few years ago. we had 2" clearance minimum and they hit on the burnout.....but wheel speed has alot to do with it. i think 1/2" is too close.....but it depends on whether or not the tire will grow into or away from body lip.

Thanks for replies. Didn't touch on the burnout, however we shook the tires real hard about 100' out and it tore both tires up. Lesson learned...shaking tires will enable them to go about 3" beyond where they are just sitting there. They hit an area we didn't think they could get to.
