blown alcohol or blown nitro small block?

hey guys im building a exabition drag boat for shits and giggles. i dont really know much about small block but can some one help me figure out some times in the 1/4??? i know we have a pro mod drag boat in the club with a 400 cubic inch small block with a 14-71 that runs 7 seconds but i really want a clackler engine in the boat that runs faster than that so maybe a lil blown nitro small block????? so my question what is the best engine setup for blown nitro small block chevy and 1/4 mile times and speeds

What hull are running, jet, flat, or hydro? Also, you will need a capsule.

im having a custom kurtis 501 built i have a brendell capsule already

If you're already having a 501 built, stick with that, you won't find a better ride IMHO.

 

years ago we ran a small block chevy blown and it would run 6.40's but had a head problem they were always trying to lift.Dave

see, i really want to do the nitro deal with the small block. i can convert one of our hemis but there a dime a dozen. then i have to do twin props do all the isp foam padding in the capsule. then also build the boat bigger to handle that power. i just want to run exb. i talked to knox about a hull but im waiting to here back but the kurtis is still on the way im just looking to have a little fun with is becuse we still ave our TAH that my father runs so what motor combo do you guys think i should run.

Jimi Young has run 5.95 with his small block and a lot of low 6's in the 1/4 blown nitro.

Running 5.90's in a light dragster is one thing, but water just sucks up so much torque to get a boat out on top on the launch, does a small block,crank and rods have enough strength to take that kind of a beating on fuel.....I'm just asking, have no idea.....
