i have a fresh 426 hemi, while priming motor with drill i get 80 pounds of oil pressure and oil seeps out of the rocker shaft bushings and puddles in the spark plug tube holes but each of my valve tips are dry
is it my drill just not turning fast enuff or? do the tips get oil from splash?

    Oiling

They get oil from splash. Its generally a good idea before you install the pushrods to dab some red n tacky grease on the cups that way you don't run the risk of galding the adjusters or pushrod cups. Mix up half lucas and half 50 weight oil n squirt on the shafts, rocker rollers, etc. Try not to get any in the plug holes though.

And remember to remove your pushrods each time you retire for the evening. Meaning if you are not going to run it again for a week remove them to help keep the springs strong. I have 970 lbs of open pressure and 450-500 on seat.

    Valve train oiling

The hemi rockers are only fed oil when the hole inside the rocker and the slot in the shaft align. They don't align very well unless the motor is turning and the rockers are moving. Also the valve train is fed through the fourth cam bearing through the cam. The passages only feed when they are aligned as the cam turns. So essentially oil to the adjuster cups on the pushrods is spotty at best in a stock situation. Once you add very high valve spring pressures now it can burn and gall adjusters and pushrod cups. Hence the added grease or oil on cold startups. On the other hand you can help the oiling with a grooved 4th cam bearing or by grooving the camshaft itself. Another aid is enlarging the groove on the rocker shafts and making sure your rockers line up with the oil slots in the rocker shafts. The PSI modification to the rockers where the oil is fed through the rocker to the tip of the adjuster is also a very good aid to oiling the pushrod cup. On the other hand- carry spare pushrods and adjusters. Dave Germain
