Just curious but can some one tell me if the 481X AJPE block has standard BBCstarter motor provisions?

    AJ Starter

Yes, I have a cast 481x and the Billet block 481x and they use a standard chevy type starter.

The location is in a different spot though isn't it? It won't fit into a chevy starter pocket in the bellhousing I don't believe.

call dave meziere and get his starter. he will send you 2 different types of block starter heads to fit your block. i reccommend their 24v starter + 24v solenoid. hooked with 2 rock 12volt agm batteries to make 24v my 481x starts better than a 48v blower starter. andy b.

Yes the location is moved, think about .750 lower than a bbc. I had to send my bellhousing to move the pocket

OK guys, thanks for the help. I guess due to the extended block past the crank center line, the starter must be lower. We will be running a p/g trans so I guess we wont have to move our b/housing pocket. If the starter mounts lower does that mean that the starter also mounts inboard more to meet the flywheel or does it take a larger diameter f/w?
